Clearway 2
Versatile Airway Clearance
Clearway 2 is a second-generation MI-E device incorporating the latest technology to bring effective and accurate treatment for patients requiring airway clearance and cough assistance.
B&D Electromedical, now owned by Breas Medical had a vision to reengineer and re-design from the ground up their Nippy Clearway product. Re-branded as Clearway 2, it provides unique, advanced technology; enabling versatile and effective options for airway clearance and cough augmentation. This model is designed for use with patients via a full-face mask, mouthpiece or tracheostomy.
Papa Bravo were tasked with supporting the industrial design, development, prototyping and manufacture of the full enclosure assembly, all touch points, internal mechanical features and hand controller.

Papa Bravo were tasked with supporting the industrial design, development, prototyping and manufacture of the full enclosure assembly, all touch points, internal mechanical features and hand controller as per the Mangar project.
Papa Bravo were given a list of known components to be housed within the enclosure unit. Then we conceptualised and developed a range of options, investigating the physical layout and ergonomic requirements. The device was then developed further in 3D CAD, ensured alignment of critical components and pathways were defined that were crucial to the operation of Clearway 2.
During the lifecycle of the projects design and development we designed and supplied countless prototype parts, using a variety of processes. All the hard plastic and metal components were produced using in-house prototype technologies such as stereolithography, 3D printing, vac casting and CNC machining. We were also very involved in the build of the first unit, having designed and supplied the majority of the bespoke physical parts.
The whole development team at Papa Bravo have created something that is deceptively simple, both visually and functionally, that undertakes a complex and life saving function. The results of the products performance are far superior to its predecessor and to-date can been seen in medical facilities around the world.
Working with our international supply chain we continue to supply critical parts for the assembly using high volume manufacturing strategies for a ‘relative’ low volume demand ensuring delivery of very high quality parts maintaining features CTQ and operational specification.
