Powerspin
The Bingo Wing Buster
The unique, upper-body training device, specifically designed for arm, shoulder and core strengthening.
Papa Bravo were tasked by our client to help design, develop, test and supply an injection moulding manufacturing strategy for the Powerspin product.
Powerspin is fitness aid designed to engage in a wide range of muscle groups in the arm and shoulder for targeted strengthening, toning and rehabilitation.
The easiest way to describe Powerspin is it has the appearance of a cross between a steering wheel and a hamster run, it is a hollow circle with a handle across the middle and a weighted ball inside the circle which rolls around as you move the Powerspin.
The aim is to get the ball spinning smoothly and then as it gains momentum you put your arms into different positions to exercise different muscles.
The Papa Bravo team helped take the product from its initial idea, into concept development, design visualisation, computer-aided design, prototyping and 'real world' testing, before then focusing on design for manufacture and supporting the tooling manufacture, commissioning and production start.
There were some particular challenges with Powerspin that from a glance would not be apparent.
Overcoming the challenge of squeak, creep and clarity were all significant hurdles that needed careful consideration within the design process, however with Papa Bravos iterative design approach were executed with great success and resulted an effective final product.
One significant success story during the development of Powerspin was the introduction and optimisation of overmolding a seamless steel ball with a TPU material and a screwless assembly off the inner core.
Both enabling our manufacturing partner to produce the final assembly in-house rather than relying on third parties, this approach also achieved similar results with the Ecocamel project.
