Designed for monitoring patient’s airflow within the medical sector, the flow head sensor proved to be a challenging component due to its requirement for extremely tight manufacturing tolerances and unique undeveloped internal ‘polymer’ mesh replacement geometry.
Through analysing the existing component architecture which consisted of six separate components, we were able to reduce the part count significantly through feasibility studies throughout the design process. FEA studies were also undertaken to determine the correct airflow, with corresponding mould flow testing to ensure the final part would be produced in accordance with the required airflow. Through working closely with our far eastern tool making partner and utilising our UK based moulding facility, we were able to offer our complete ‘concept to manufacture’ service.
The final product has proven its worth through its integration within the client’s products, with feedback from the company directors stating that ‘Papa Bravo have an exceptional approach and eye for detail coupling this with their technical ability has enabled us to stride forward with our product range faster than ever before’.
