Quinn Radiators 11-11-2016
The aim of this project was to re-design the side panel and grille for a domestic style radiator. Due to the high volume manufacture of this product, the focus was on delivering a new solution that offered an improved aesthetic and greater ease of assembly at an incredibly competitive price.
Significant time was spent understanding the manufacturing processes involved in producing the existing sheet metal side panel and grille. This meant that non-value adding operations could be designed-out of the new parts. As a result, the finished side panel removed the need for two plastic clips by integrating their function in to the metalwork; providing the client with huge product and supply chain cost savings. In addition, the improved assembly method meant that the large apertures around the radiator connectors could be eliminated from the design, giving the side panel a more complete look.
The client was very satisfied with the result as the final deliverable exceeded their initial expectations. The outcome proved popular amongst the company directors as the products could give a quick return on investment, strengthen the company’s position within the market and help secure future growth of the product range.
